Perspective and Focal Length

Perspective Photos:

Bird's Eye View:

I took this picture in Av mode from a second story window looking down towards a courtyard of the school. The ISO was set to 400. Shutter speed was at 1/60 and aperture was f/6.3. I was looking around the school for interesting things to take a photo of when I stopped in my favorite alcove in the school to think. when I was there I looked out the window and saw the image you see. I thought the way the bath in the middle of the rock garden was very interesting. So, I set my camera, took the photo and moved on. I think this photo turned out really well and you can definitely see that we are higher up.

What the Cat Saw:

This picture was also taken in AV mode. The ISO was set at 400 while aperture was f/5 and shutter speed was 1/800. This was taken outside. I was sitting in the grass looking up towards a flagpole when this was taken. This picture turned out well because since the aperture and shutter speed were so small the flag didn't blur in the wind. The only thing I would change is that I wish the image was brighter.

What the Ant Saw:

This image was also taken in AV mode and outside. the ISO was set to 400 again, and the aperture was f/4 and shutter speed was 1/30. This picture was taken at the same time as the previous picture. I was down low on the ground and took a picture of the bell in front of the school. Over all this image turned out well. You can definitely tell that this was taken lower and looking out.

Pattern Breaker:

Aperture:

The mode I used to take this photo was once again AV. The ISO was 400 and aperture was f/5. This was the second picture I took using aperture. This one makes the red pool ball at top right corner stand out while rest blurs subtlety,

Zoom:

This photo was taken using all same settings as previous photo. The ISO was set at 400 and aperture was set at f/5. Although this time I experimented using zoom. I feel like this one didn't turn out as well as the other when changing the aperture, The zoomed in approach didn't capture the right way and made whole thing blurry without applying focus on any portion of the image.
Framing:
This image was once again taken in AV mode. i set the aperture to f/4.5 and the ISO too 400. The shutter speed was 1/4. with this image I focused on framing the subject. I took 3 photos trying this out. I started by taking a photo from the left side of the rack but that didn't work at all so I tried taking some photos from different angles on the right side. While this worked better it didn't give the same effect as my example for aperture did.

Which is Best?

Overall I think Aperture is the most important aspect of depth of field. the amount of light allowed in camera allows you to focus on one area and blur the rest. My example for Aperture really shows emphasis on that one red pool ball in top right corner because while it is also the closest, the focus was on it. this allowed the light of the rest of the image to be less significant.

The Characteristics of Light

Direction of Light: In the photo I am using to show the Direction of Light, I have took this photo in Av mode. the aperture was at at f/4, the ISO was set to 400. the shutter speed was set to 1/100. i did nit use any flash or reflector for this image. this photo shows the Direction of Light because you can see the way the light is coming from side casting soft shadows across the face of the subject.. You can see the direction the light is coming from by the shadows on the wall in background.

Quantity of Light:For this photo which I chose to use to demonstrate the quantity of light, it was taken in Av mode. the ISO was set to 200, the aperture was set to f/4.5 and the shutter speed was 1/60. as you cans see, there is a lot of light in this photo, when i first took it, the face of the subject was very dark. to fix this problem, i used a reflector to bring some of the light around him to light up his face. this allowed the light to still frame his face without shrouding it in shadows.
Quality of Light:
The image i chose to represent the quality of light was taken in Av mode. the ISO was set to 200 while the aperture was set to f/6.3 and shutter speed was 1/15. The light source which was behind me really lit up the photo. it didn't cast any harsh shadows and the shadows that did show up were nice and soft. the light. However, I did use flash to enhance the image. this jut added a little bit extra to the face to lighten it up.

Two Light, Two Dark, Two Moving

Light:

This is an example of a good picture in a very light setting. this picture was taken in AV mode. The ISO is set at 200, which means it has a lower sensitivity to light. The aperture is set at f/6.3 and this means there is a very small area for light to enter but that is okay because there is a lot of light and if it were lower there would have been too much light in the image. The shutter speed was set at 1/30 and worked with the aperture to not let too much light in.
This is an example of  bad picture in a light setting. there is one thing you notice automatically when you look at this picture. its dark. This picture was taken in Tv Mode. the ISO was at 100. the aperture was at f/4. the camera automatically chose the shutter speed to be at 1/125 which was definitely not enough time to let the required light in. to make this picture i would recommend increasing the ISO. in this picture the settings i chose and the ones provided for me didn't really work together, this image is much too dark. this is because the shutter speed was too quick to let enough light in, also the ISO wasn't sensitive enough. also the aperture

Dark:
this is an example of a good picture in a dark setting, it doesn't look like it, the the space i used to take this picture was really dark. This was taken in Av mode, so I didn't have control over the shutter speed. The ISO was set at 400. The aperture was f/3.4 the shutter speed was set at 1/3. The aperture was was big enough to let in the most light available. The ISO was high enough to be sensitive to light to capture it and the shutter speed was long enough to let the light through. This picture was really lightened up compared to the other dark picture I took.
This picture of a dark setting really didn't work, it is much too dark. tgis image was taken in Tv mode so i couldnt choose the aperture,. The ISO was set at 800 and the aperture was f/3.5. the shutter speed was 1/60, this picture should have been better. the ISO and Aperture were right to let enough light in. It was the shutter speed that didn't work. It was too quick to let the light through making it dark. Next time I take a picture in a dark setting I need to remember that you need the shutter to be open for longer so the light can come in.

Moving:
This is an example of a good picture that captures movement. This picture was taken in Tv mode. the ISO was set at 800. The shutter speed was set at 1/200 and the aperture was f/3.4. The small shutter speed allowed for movement to be captured without it being blurry, The aperture was big enough to let light in, but the ISO was too high and it made the picture darker, that was the only problem with this photo.
This is an example of a bad picture where the subject is moving. this was taken I Av mode. the ISO was 200, the aperture was f/5 and the shutter speed was 1/8. The ISO and aperture were fine to get the brightness. the shutter speed was the problem, since I was in Av mode, I couldn't choose it, and the shutter was open too long which allowed Hailey to still be moving while the shutter was closing causing the picture to be blurry.

Alphabet

Happy camera mode

Automatic Camera Mode

#1 There are many similarities between auto and happy camera mode. for instance the pictures look almost identical, only specifications differentiate them. The f-stop number of the Happy camera mode is f/3.5 while Auto is f/3.4. The exposure time is the same for both modes at 0.0333s. The ISO is the same for both at 160. The focal length of Auto mode is 6mm while Happy camera is 6.56mm. the resolution for both is 180. The dimensions of both photos is 1600x1200 pixels. I personally do not see any differences in these pictures, because I have not been in this course long enough to see distinct key differences in two simple point-and-shot modes..

#2 With this picture above I darkened the image. the colors were warmed and i added contrast. as u can see the colors are much richer and deeper hues. the whole image has a more red/orange tint around the edges from warming the colors..

#3 I stared with the yellow ladder. Then, after turning the first photo black and white, I increased the highlights. next I added more shadows. In the next picture I increased the contrast after turning the image to black and white. This allowed the blacks to stand out more against the gray color. The first image is really light and is mostly gray. The second is more interesting because you can see the contrast and how in deepens the blacks as well as lightening the white and gray.

#4 In this picture first I cropped the image to block out some of the extra areas. then I increased the contrast of the colors and sharpened the image overall so it is more crisp. The main difference between the two is how in the second/edited version everything is more clear and draws your eyes to the red"no entry sign.

The word i spelled was Opa, which is a Greek word for excitement and partying.
